This privacy statement discloses the privacy practices for our Venture Crew 617 website www.crew617.org and our associated pages, and forums.
Because we want to demonstrate our commitment to your privacy, we are making this disclosure of our information practices. This disclosure will tell you:
- What personally identifiable information is collected from visitors at our website.
- Who we, the organization is collecting the information
- How the information is used
- With whom the information may be shared
- What choices are available to you regarding collection, use and distribution of the information
- The kind of security procedures that are in place to protect the loss, misuse or alteration of information under our control

INFORMATION COLLECTION AND USE
We, (Venture Crew 617) are the sole owner of the information collected on our site. We do not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement. We do collect information for prospective members to expedite their membership application, and we do share this information with the National Capital Area Council, BSA and the Boy Scouts of America as these entities process the membership for us. All members must fill out a paper application. To be compliant with youth protection safeguards, all adult applications require the collection of the adult's Social Security Number, Drivers License Number, and workplace information, as well as references. This information is used to verify the inegrity of the applicant. Specific details of the BSA's safeguards may be found on the BSA's website at www.scouting.org.
With the exception of our member's forum (which requires registration for the purposes of protecting the conversations and privacy of our members) all other items that require you to submit data electronically may also be printed, filled out, and turned in manually at any meeting of Crew 617.
Policies for Youth (Individuals under 13 Years of Age)
With the exception of our member's forum, which is for registered members of Crew 617, (Membership being open to youth ages 13-20,) no registration is required to visit our website. Youth have complete access to all information published online at our website. Our website is designed to be family friendly. Youth under the age of 13 are welcome to read all of the content on our website, but, for their online safety, may not join our forum with or without parental consent.
Site visitors are not required to complete a registration form to visit our site or to view any published contents. No visitor is required at any time to provide demographic information (such as income level and gender) to read the site. Membership applications will collect this data however, although it will never be published on the site itself.
